"We Knights value individuality. We are a gathering of individuals, and we do not unite. But I want to believe that through the experience we’ve gained from many, many battles, we have formed a bond between us. I want to believe we’ve become comrades with the same will. No, that we have become like a family."

Date: 2023-09-01 02:09 (UTC)If they were lined up together, you would be able to tell them apart. The mist wolves are ephemeral. It is as though they might disintegrate at the lightest touch, no matter how true or untrue that statement is.
Lady Death-- was like the darkest depths of a void. She was shadowy versus the fog-like quality of the wolves that attacked us before. As though she pulled in all of the light from around her.

The snake took the collar and placed it on her so quickly that we did not have time to react. Neither had she. She roared over the fact that we would collar her again, I believe she said.
[ He makes a dissatisfied face. ]
And the snake seemed to believe it did not matter because by placing the collar on her it split her consciousness, which made it impossible for her to properly rule over the underworld.
While the collar was on her, she simply spoke of how she intended to hunt us all down and show no mercy. It was not until we kissed her and her sisters and used our charm upon her that they settled down enough for us to help.
[ . . .]
Rubato-senpai inquired further of her. He asked if there were others like her. The most she said, though, was that she did possess a few kin. But that each was responsible for their own domains, and that she does not interfere with them, because she is 'Nothing'. Or, in other words, death.

Date: 2023-09-01 04:06 (UTC)I do wish there was an easy way to communicate with her. I have so many questions.
Which reminds me that I have one for you. Have you ever encountered a giant serpent here before? Or noticed any scales or the markings of one within the forest?

Date: 2023-09-01 05:32 (UTC)I wondered if it travels into the forest or not, or if there were signs of it at all. I am not allowed to enter so can only depend on what others tell me.

To be honest, staying put is very difficult for me. I want to explore, to help, and cannot simply stand aside if someone is in danger, naturally. That is precisely why I dashed after Pond Fiend and came upon a giant serpent. But Styx-san said that if I run into the forest or dash out with others on some sort of venture, I am a liability until I have a little more training under my belt.
. . . And I do not want anyone to be harmed on account of me. He said if I break his rules, he will not train me anymore. And I need a trainer. He has been showing me how to fight in hand-to-hand combat.

Re: day 29

I was speaking with him and I am hoping we might be able to communicate with the creature. Though we shall have to take precautions. I have no desire to provoke it into turning negative attention on the pasture. Thus far it seems that it has left everyone alone.
It's scales are interesting however.
