"We Knights value individuality. We are a gathering of individuals, and we do not unite. But I want to believe that through the experience we’ve gained from many, many battles, we have formed a bond between us. I want to believe we’ve become comrades with the same will. No, that we have become like a family."

All compliments to the hunters, since I don't have the stomach for it.

That's true! There are a lot of great shellfish that are easy to gather from tide pools.

But most of your calories come from plants, right? Those are even easier to catch, I imagine.

Nah, I wouldn't wanna put you out -- after all, it's a lot of work, isn't it? And kinda dangerous.

[daintily cutting her food into bite-sized pieces.]

So, Minuet.

Crescendo tells me you're familiar with the kind of problem I'm having.

Yeah, actually.

At least in theory. I'm sure our circumstances are very different, but at the end of the day, dying's dying.

This body I'm in is entirely limbus.

I had Lily transfer my soul to it, when the other one... "ran out."

That makes sense.

When we reach the end of our life cycles, we undergo a very abrupt senescence. Our bodies simply start failing in every sense, and we tend to succumb within a few months.

I tried making a limbus body, but it's in the same state. It's no more youthful than I am, so it's giving up, too.

Even the limbus... damn.

[ That's fucked up ]

You do have non-limbus body options, but going through Red or a demon is gonna be sketchy as hell.

The other option -- and I don't know if it'd even work, but I'm willing to try -- is to restore your original body's energy.

Energy?

What does that mean?

Remember how I told you my planet has no natural resources, and Plants generate everything needed to sustain life? That power.

I know it wouldn't work on a human, but -- if your species has a finite amount of energy and then declines rapidly once it's been exhausted, that's fairly similar.

[she thinks about it....]

...I'm not really sure? My understanding is that our cells in our body can only divide a certain number of times. The DNA gets a little worn each time, until its structural integrity fails and it frays apart. And without being able to repair our cells or correctly fold proteins into the correct origami or whatever, everything just falls apart.

But... I dunno. Before coming here, I didn't even know souls were real, or magic. Is aging really just a misalignment of the chakras? Is my aura the wrong color? I have no fucking clue what's real any more.

I don't know if it'd work, but I'd be willing to try.

You said your last body failed from running out of energy, right? So if you give me energy, is that going to be detrimental to you?
